Welcome to our Retail Forecasts Report 2016, setting out our observations of how the retail sector has performed in 2015 and featuring our predictions for the coming year.
The sector has yet again faced a challenging year with the pace of technological advancements and evolving customer shopping behaviours presenting further pressures on existing business models and profit margins.
Strong economic indicators and the low inflationary environment helped consumer confidence although this was not always translated into high street spend with many spending their cash on leisure and hospitality pursuits instead.
Having said this, we do believe that 2016 provides many opportunities and for those retailers who rise to the challenge of changing behaviours with creativity and a sound strategy, the year could prove to be a successful one.
